SAUCE CITY SCRIPTS

I am a huge fan of classic tv and radio comedy from the UK including Round The Horne, Hancock, Steptoe & Son, Monty Python, Hello Cheeky, Are You Being Served, I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again, Dads Army and many many more. These, and more, have been an inspiration to me since I was a kid. I still remember sat round the living room at my parents house and my dad saying “Lets put a Hancock on”. There is also a hell of a lot of great comedy from the US … Seinfeld, Cheers, Fraiser, Big Bang … the list goes on.

 

I have never wanted to be in the spotlight. I would much rather promote live music than be up on stage in front of people. Likewise, I absolutely love watching a group of talented actors perform a script that I have spent time writing, hearing the audience laugh in all the right places, applaud at the end of a scene and get actors come up to me and say “Thanks for giving me such great lines.” or “I want you to write me a great part again next year.”.

 

The scripts on this site are a labour of love. The Pantomime scripts are silly, funny, witty and full of bad jokes, one liners and an almost coherent plot … just like panto should be. There are also short scripts and extended sketches. I love writing these as well, purely for the fact that it’s a short sharp blast of theatre in a hectic world.

 

This Year (2014) I have not only had the privalige of having a script performed by The Norton Theatre Group (website) but I also had the chance to work on the script for The Gloucester Operatic and Dramatic Society (website). Both shows went down extremley well and I am proud to be associated with them. ... and I am looking forward to working with them again soon.
